NOAA Rec Fish Funding: Call for Project Proposals

From Alexandra McOwen, NOAA Fisheries:

Hello All

NOAA’s Office of Habitat Conservation and Rec Fish Initiative are pleased to announce that we are collaborating again this year to offer another informal funding opportunity in FY26 for Coastal Fish Habitat Partnership projects that support habitat conservation or restoration and engagement with the recreational fishing community.

At this link you’ll find a call for proposals including an “FAQ” based on the questions we received in previous years regarding this funding opportunity. Check out summaries of previously funded projects from 2022, 2023, and 2024. Please note we will continue to use a quantitative proposal evaluation process and the evaluation criteria and their weights are in the attachment.

The deadline for proposals is Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Proposals should be submitted to myself (Alex.McOwen@noaa.gov) and Russ Dunn (Russell.Dunn@noaa.gov) by Fish Habitat Partnership (FHP) coordinators, FHP partners, or NOAA staff working closely with an FHP. Anyone submitting a proposal should coordinate with and cc the relevant FHP coordinator.

Please reach out to me with any questions. We look forward to reviewing this year’s round of proposals.

Thank you,
Alex and Russ
