Part-time Job Opportunity!

On behalf of the Mat-Su Basin Salmon Habitat Partnership, the Nature Conservancy is seeking a part-time coordinator to help with planning and implementation of the 2014 Mat-Su Salmon Science and Conservation Symposium, held November 18th and 19th in Palmer, Alaska.  This will be contract work averaging 10 – 15 hours per week through November 2014, with 25 – 30 hours required the week of the Symposium.

Funding Opportunity!

The Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership is requesting proposals for funding for fiscal year 2015

Since 2006, the Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership, a National Fish Habitat Partnership, has offered funds in support of salmon habitat conservation activities and priorities, as identified in the Mat-Su Salmon Partnership Strategic Action Plan.

The deadline for proposals is October 1st, 2014.

New Partnership Progress Report!

Please check out the Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership’s newest publication – a progress report that highlights and celebrates the collective work of the Partnership over the last nine years. Although all accomplishments of partners could not be included in these few pages, it is none-the-less impressive!

Well done to the many individuals and organizations whose hard work and vision built these successes!

See the Partnership’s updated Strategic Action Plan!

The Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership has an updated Strategic Action Plan! Originally an 18  month long process involving many individuals and organizations that was completed in 2008, we have updated our Strategic Action Plan following five years of implementation.

This Strategic Plan, identifies some primary conservation threats to salmon and their habitats in the Mat-Su Basin, and  lays out conservation goals and strategies that the Partnership, or anyone else can do to help keep wild abundant salmon the basin.

Join the Partnership Steering Committee

 Would you like to be more involved with the Mat-Su Basin Salmon Habitat Partnership?

Why not join the Steering Committee?

The Steering Committee is the guiding body for a Partnership that brings together more than 50 organizations who share a vision of thriving fish, healthy habitats, and vibrant communities in the Mat-Su. The Steering Committee ensures that the Partnership follows guidelines set forth by the National Fish Habitat Partnership and achieves goals set out in the Mat-Su Salmon Partnership Strategic Action Plan.  Committee members actively seek and encourage partner participation and support partner projects through endorsements for funding, technical assistance, and recommendations for collaboration and funding sources. The steering committee meets every two months in Palmer.  Click here to learn more  about the Steering Committee’s activities, operations and expectations of members.

Two At-large seats with a two-year term open in January. Preference will be given to organizations based in the Mat-Su Basin and with missions closely aligned with the National Fish Habitat Partnership (www.fishhabitat.org).

If you are interested, please send a letter explaining why you want to join the Steering Committee and what you can do to help the Partnership achieve its goals.  Send the letter to Jessica Speed jspeed@tnc.org) by Monday November 25th, 2013.
